As you know, nature supplies the best healing agents.
When I was a little girl, we had an elderly neighbor, Mrs. Russell. She was a cheerful, giggly little old lady with an endless mental catalog of plant remedies and healing concoctions. She chewed plants (not sure which ones), cooked with them and even brushed her teeth with tree bark. Really!
Well, Mrs. Russell is long gone, but science is catching up to what
she knew years ago - plants heal. Check out these natural plant remedies and you be the judge.
Aloe Vera
Back2BasicNutrition.Com says Aloe Vera was proven more effective in the treatment of UV burns (or sunburn) than a low dose hydro-cortisone gel . The findings are a result of a German study of over 30 volunteers.
For years, my mom has grown aloe vera to treat burns. She has one in the living room the size of a small country. Don't believe me? I'll post it on Facebook soon. After any type of minor burn, just cut or break off a peice of the plant; apply the gel directly to your burn and you'll feel the cooling instantly. Discover other uses for AV here.
Tea Tree Oil
This oil is a natural antiseptic and according to WebMD has been proven to reduce acne as effectively as a 5% Benzoyl peroxide!
Tea Tree Oil comes from the Australian paperbark tree. Score another one for nature.
To use, simply apply a few drops to a cotton swab and dab on your blemish. The night before I actually applied it to my face, I tested a little on the inside of my elbow to see if I had any reactions.
Also, after Dr. Oz recommended TTO to kill eyelash mites, I now use a little to remove eye makeup at the lash line. I don't think I have mites, but just in case.
For some reason, I cannot find this recommendation on the Dr. Oz Show website, but I'm sure I heard it. Check out another site's recommendation for this TTO use here.
I found my Tea Tree for less than $5- check out Amazon.Com.
Care2.Com offers a comprehensive list of TTO uses. Check it out here.
