Guilty as charged!  I must admit....my name is Teri and I'm a makeup snob.

Altogether now, "Hi, Teri".

Like so many of you Busy Chicks(TM), I spend hundreds of dollars a year on my cosmetics and skincare. My two favs are  MAC girl
and love Shiseido Sun Protection Compact Foundation Great products, but both can be costly. So, anytime I can cut some corners on shadows and other items, I certainly do.

So, I decided to experiment a bit.

My curiosity led me to try a few Dollar Store brands...yep, DOLLAR STORE brands!

Everything to Hide
First, I tried a Sally Hansen concealer for only a buck. The concealer applied smoothly with a silky creamy texture. The best news is the color was a perfect match for African American complexion.

Also, the product lasted the entire day without oiling up or "pooping  out" on my face.  Even more importantly, the product did not cause any breakouts or problems on my sensitive skin. It had no odor.  So, I can likely conclude that it was not expired or past date.

Cheapie Polish Remover
Sorry, picture not so good
I also tried a nail polish remover that cost four quarters, but I would pay a couple of dollars for it. The brand name was Swan and the packaging is the traditional polish remover bottle shape and the cap is a hot pink or fuchsia color. This was going to be a tricky challenge because I apply several coats of nail polish each manicure. To my surprise, the Dollar Store remover whisked off my nail color without a hitch!

Finally, my third Dollar Store cosmetic makeup shocker will rattle any makeup diva!

For this one, I employed the help of a YouTube video blogger named "muffinismylovers".  She showed me how to apply my Dollar Store brand eye shadow with the precision of a professional makeup artist! This technique made my brown eyes pop! In the end, my look was smooth, polished, and lasted the entire day.

So, I'm sold. If I like the shadow colors at my local Dollar Store, I'm going to buy it. I'm also now a loyal Sally Hansen fan. Finally, sorry Cutex....I'm a Swan now. As for foundation, I'm still a Shiseido girl, but who knows. Have you tried Dollar Store cosmetics? What did you think?

P.S. Let me know if you want to see a finished picture of my Dollar Store eyes. :)
