Ever been in a mad rush for dinner and reached for good old faithful Hamburger Helper? I'm ashamed to say I have.

As you know, the tastiest version of these quickie meals is not straight from the box.  Like most quick fix dinner solutions, you have to add a little tender loving care to make them yummy.

**Disclaimer - to all my diet buddies...
my hubby and I had baked flounder.
Just sayin....**

Here are a few ideas to make Hamburger Helper better:

For Bacon Cheeseburger  go ahead and add some real bacon bits and a little sour cream just before serving.

Cheddar Cheese Melt  is a better with a tiny pinch of nutmeg. I'm not sure why, but it really brings the out the flavor  in cheddar. While you're at it, add some shredded cheddar!

Cheeseburger Macaroni - one word for this one - Velveeta!

Cheesy Baked Potato is great topped with some chives, parsley, sour cream and anything else you'd put on a "real" baked potato!

Cheesy Hashbrowns is gluten-free according to the website. How about adding some frozen hash browns, chopped onions and a little cream of mushroom soup?

Remember, for beef-flavored varieties, the following almost always work:
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • Garlic powder
  • Chopped sauteed onions, garlic or green peppers.
Use beef broth or chicken stock instead of water and maybe half and half (or cream) instead of the milk. Oh yeah, butter makes everything better!

Any other tips?
